Affordable Health Supplements - A Personal Decision
You're probably thinking "What? How can affordable health supplements be a personal decision?"I say that simply because the term "affordable" is a relative term. What is affordable for Bill Gates probably won't be for me. By the same token, what is affordable for me may not be affordable for you, or the other way around. Everyone wants cheap natural health, but although natural health is usually cheaper than drugs and surgeries, it still isn't free. If we truly think the matter through, we afford what we most value. So what we afford says everything about our personal priorities. I know many people who will pay hundreds, or even thousands, of dollars for drugs or tests that doctors order, even if their health insurance doesn't cover it. Some of those same people will tell you they can't afford health supplements. I suspect they don't believe that supplements would make a difference in their health. So the truth is more they won't afford health supplements, than they can't... It is their decision, but they will have to live with the consequences, which will frequently be poorer health, and at times possibly even death.
Affordable Health Supplements - You Get What you Pay For
There is something else to consider when buying "affordable health supplements". Sometimes when you buy the cheapest supplements available you'll find they don't have any effect on your health because they have little or no active ingredients in them. To give you a personal example...I have problems with cold sores. I take 1500 milligrams of Lysine three times every day so I won't get cold sores. That has been more effective for me than any other treatment. Since I use so much, I do try to find the most economical sources. I bought a batch of pills from Vitacost, made by a company called Country Life. They were the most economical, so I ordered them. There was only one problem. While I was taking that batch of pills I got three or four cold sores. No sooner would I get over one then I would get another one. I can't prove that those pills don't contain the Lysine they claim to, but my body proved it for me. Either they didn't contain Lysine, or it was in a form my body couldn't use. I got cold sores. If those had been the first Lysine supplements I had tried, I would have been convinced that Lysine didn't control my cold sores, when in fact, I had just gotten a bad batch of it. Please don't misunderstand, I buy a lot of my supplements from Vitacost, and I usually have no problems with them, but I won't buy a product produced by Country Life again because I've found their Lysine pills to be ineffective. If they put out one supplement like that, it probably isn't the only one. I understand you don't want to have to pay any more than necessary for supplements. Neither do I. However you need to be aware that sometimes supplements may not contain the full amount of a nutrient they claim to, or the nutrient may be in a form that your body can't absorb. Either way, it won't help you and you'll be wasting your money. No matter if it is the most affordable health supplement on the market, it is worthless if it doesn't improve your health. Do Health Supplements Work?
Where can you find Affordable Health Supplements that Work?
You can buy them from Vitacost or Vitamin World . I get a lot of my supplements from them. However, please be sure to track your results so you know they are working, if you get supplements from a discount supplier. There could be some brands they sell that don't work, as I shared above. If you want to be sure you are getting the highest quality supplements, get them from a place like Life Extension Foundation . You will pay more, but you can be sure that the ingredients are high quality and well absorbed by the body. In addition many direct sales companies have very high quality health supplements. My top recommendation that has been such a help to us is sold in that way. I know it has enabled me to be healthier in my fifties, then I was in my thirties. It has also enabled my husband to regain an active life style in spite of his arthritis. If you'd like more details check out the
Super food supplement page.
Although the last two suggestions are not as economically priced as the supplements you can get from discount suppliers, if you are facing serious health challenges, it makes sense to give your body the best nutrients you can afford to help it heal. When I was struggling with cancer and going through chemotherapy, the super food supplement I was taking, (the precursor of the one discussed in the previous link) enabled me to maintain enough health that I only had to miss four days of teaching during the course of six treatments. I didn't feel well, but neither did I feel horribly ill, and I didn't lose all my hair either. To me, it was definitely worth the money! If you truly understand that a supplement will enable you to maintain or regain your health, you will probably find a way to afford it. On the other hand, if you don't really expect it to make any difference anyway, you probably wouldn't take it if someone gave it to you! I know, because I've done that a few times and had it happen. We all realize there is no way to know for sure if a supplement will help you without trying it. But beware, the same is true of drugs the doctors prescribe. In fact, they may often harm instead of help you! In the August 2006 issue of the Life Extension Magazine there is an article titled "Death by Medicine". In this fully referenced report the researchers found that there were 2.2 million bad reactions to prescribed drugs in hospitals each year. There was a whole list of problems cause by conventional medicine, but the worst statistic presented was that conventional medicine caused close to 800,000 deaths yearly. That is a higher number than those caused by either heart disease or cancer. If you'd like to read the complete article, I believe it is available from the Life Extension Foundation. Affordable Health Supplements or Doctors and Drugs
Please don't misunderstand. I know many in the medical profession are dedicated to helping others and sincere people. I also know there are times that medicines may save lives. But isn't it far wiser to use affordable health supplements to preserve health, than to rely on drugs to restore it?In fact, for most health challenges, you are far more likely to restore health by finding the right supplements and nutrients to help your body heal, then you are by going to doctors and blindly investing in drugs. Most drugs only treat the symptoms, while at the same time allowing the underlying health condition to worsen. If you've just been in an accident, please, go to the emergency room and getting treatment...it may save your life! But, for many other health challenges, affordable health supplements will probably enable you to save far more by the health problems you avoid, then you will ever invest in the supplements you take.
Financing Affordable Health Supplements
Of course the easiest way to get affordable health supplements is to plan them in your budget as you do food, utilities, medicine, and other essentials of life. If you would like to make supplements a part of your life, but don't have the money in your current budget to cover them, I'd recommend checking out the page I've written about affording health supplements. On it, I share the tips I use to afford the health supplements that have so improved our health.
As the old saying goes "where there is a will, there is a way". I believe that will be true when you understand that affordable health supplements will frequently prevent sickness, or possibly even death.
