Mitochondrial Basics w/ Bio PQQ - Life Extension
If you take antioxidant supplements, recent research has shown, you'll stop one of the major causes of aging in your body.

We now know free radicals are the cause of much aging.

If you haven't done much reading in the health field recently, and don't listen to health news, you may never have heard of "free radicals".

Even if you have heard of them, you probably don't have a very clear idea of what they are, or what difference they make to your health.

A simple explanation is...

A free radical is a highly unstable molecule because it lacks an electron. So it tries to steal that electron from other molecules in the body in order to regain stability.

There are times our bodies use free radicals in certain cellular processes and immune responses.

Antioxidant supplements like these can slow aging and prevent chronic disease by quenching free radicals in your body.

But, unless the body is able to maintain balance on the cellular level, these free radicals cause chain reactions that damage cell membranes, proteins, and even our genes.

These processes result in chronic diseases, such as arthritis, allergies, and heart disease, or simply, faster aging.

Antioxidants stop these damaging chain reactions in the body by neutralizing free radicals. They accomplish this by giving an electron to free radicals so they become stable once again. This process is called reduction.

Normal bodily functions cause some free radicals. However stress, environmental toxins, trans fats, processed foods, pollution, and many other common occurrences in modern life also create them.

So it isn't surprising that most of us have to deal with free radical overload in our bodies.

The power of an antioxidant is measured on the ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity) scale. The higher the ORAC rating the more powerful the antioxidant.

If you're perfectly healthy, you may not need antioxidant supplements. You may be able to get your needed nutrients from antioxidant foods.

If you'd like further information on this scale, you can also visit the antioxidant oasis for a lot of good information on which foods have the highest ORAC scale.

Another site that will help you get antioxidants from food is the Juicing for Health site.

Although they are available in our food supply, their potency is often affected by storage, as well as the shipping and processing used.

Consequently, it is becoming more and more difficult to get enough antioxidants in our diet to offset the barrage of free radicals we are dealing with.

Antioxidant supplements truly enhance your body's ability to maintain vibrant health.

I will list two classes of antioxidant supplements: Class one- those I know and use,and Class Two-those I've read about in research.

This list will not be exhaustive, since whole books have been written about antioxidants, and scientists are regularly discovering new ones. But it should give you some good ideas about which antioxidant supplements you can use to improve your health.

Class One:

We currently use these supplements on a regular basis.

We've found they all provide noticeable health benefits.

Class Two:

I have read repeatedly in my research that the following supplements can also provide important, and valuable antioxidant support.

Antioxidant supplements strengthen our bodies by enabling us to overcome an imbalance of free radicals in our bodies. There are many different types available. But, if you buy them all individually, the cost of using them could be quite expensive.

I've found one of the best ways to support my body economically is to take a combination antioxidant product. The one we're currently using is called Omega-Q Plus, put out by Dr. Sinatra.

I've been using it for some time and it has given me very good results.

It provides Co-Q 10, omega 3 fatty acids, and several anti-oxidant vitamins in a two capsule per day dosage.

It is particularly formulated to support heart health so I give it to my husband as well, since his Dad died of a heart attack when he was several years younger than my husband's current age.

I believe it has helped both of us stay healthy. Get your supply by clicking on the image below.

I then buy the other antioxidants, such as Vitamin C, melatonin, echinacea, any others I feel necessary separately.

In the past I've also gotten my CoQ10 from Life Extension Foundation. They have a formula that they've proved to be much easier for your body to use than many on the market, although I understand Dr. Sinatra's formula that I'm currently using is also an easily absorbed form.

You can make your own choices about which combination formula will best meet your needs. The important thing is to begin making antioxidant supplements a regular part of you diet.

So you can provide your body with the antioxidant support it needs to maintain, or regain, your health without emptying your bank account.
