Just as adding an "r" can make it difficult to find information on the condition, in a similar fashion artery disease usually results in cardiovascular disease, although it's difficult to believe you're not entirely healthy. So although it technically refers to any disease affecting any part of the heart or blood vessels, most of the time cardiovascular disease really refers to diseases of the arteries. According to Wikipedia heart disease kills more Americans than cancer every year. But heart disease is the end result of artery disease. What causes it anyway? It depends on what we're talking about...If it's the misspelling, just a slight moment of forgetfulness, or possibly, lack of knowledge. It may be one of those words you just never learned to spell. At any rate, it is easy when writing a long word to add or mix up a letter, I did it myself when first writing about the condition, that's how this page was written. But for the causes of atherosclerosis, please click here to read all about
atherosclerosis.
However you spell it, correctly or incorrectly, atherosclerosis isn't a condition you should ignore or take lightly. Return to Cardiovascular Fitness
