The age of Menopause will vary from person to person. Overall health, genetic make-up, and many as yet unknown factors, all play a role.
I entered menopause around the age of forty-six. Other women may not enter this stage of life until fifty-five or fifty six. Menopause age naturally varies widely in different women. According to Wikipedia, typically a woman will be between the age of forty-five and fifty-five when she begins menopause. Today another contributing factor may be health or medical conditions. Many women have hysterectomies today or have their ovaries removed on their doctor's advice. This causes "surgical menopause". Treatments for cancer also frequently cause menopause ahead of what might be normal for women. What is more important than menopause age is the menopause symptoms a woman may experience. Many women begin to deal with some of the effects of menopause as early as their mid thirties or early forties. Women who sail through menopause effortlessly do so because they suffer few, if any, menopause symptoms. Whether menopause occurs for them before or after the average age of menopause doesn't really matter because the menopause signs don't interfere with their lives or activities.On the other hand, women who find menopause to be a waking nightmare are plagued with menopause symptoms that seriously compromise their quality of life.
