Cardiovascular Fitness -
Good Health Protection!

Without cardiovascular fitness you won't have good health! At least, you won't have it for long.

Why do I say that? Because your body's circulation depends on your cardiovascular system. If you have all the right nutrients in your diet, get all the right supplements, enough rest, and enough exercise, without good circulation your body will still sicken and die!

To quote the Creator..."The life of the flesh is in the blood".

Most people think all you need to have a fit cardiovascular system is to maintain a healthy weight, and get enough exercise to be healthy . But medical research has shown it's not quite that simple.

What is Cardiovasular Fitness?

I can't give you a researched definition because cardiovascular fitness is rarely discussed. To learn about it, I studied cardiovascular disease. The opposite characteristics are considered fitness.

So how should a healthy cardiovascular system work. The arteries seem to be the weak link in the system, so to speak, so I'll primarily discuss them. A healthy artery is made up of three layers of cells.

The inner layer is called endothelial cells. They are very smooth and slippery and are designed to allow the blood to flow through your body with as little resistance as possible.

The middle layer is made up of muscle cells designed to contract and relax so that the blood moves smoothly through the arteries.

The outer layer is made up of cells that are designed to allow the nutrients and gasses transported through the blood to be absorbed into the tissues of the body and to pick up waste products from the tissues to be eliminated from the body.

Healthy arteries are smooth and elastic. They have strong muscle tone in the second layer, and the outer layer is good at exchanging nutrients and gasses with the body's tissues.

Although this isn't the sum total of cardiovascular fitness, if your arteries possess these characteristics, you aren't likely to have any serious cardiovascular problems.

What causes cardiovascular disease?

From what I've been able to discover in research, I didn't find a sure answer to that question. But for a better understanding of the problem, please click here to read about atherosclerosis.

Can Cardiovascular Fitness be Ensured?

This is truly a million dollar question. No one knows for sure.

Doctors will be more than willing to start you on blood pressure medicine as soon as you have a reading they consider high, on statin drugs to lower your cholesterol, if it every comes back high, and so on.

There are many problems with this approach though.

  • First, you need to keep taking the drugs for the rest of your life.
  • Second, most, if not all of them have serious possible side effects.
  • Third, they are usually quite expensive.
  • Fourth, their value in preventing cardiovascular disease really hasn't been proven.
  • Fifth, most only address symptoms, or one specific problem, and do nothing to help you overcome the health challenge, or challenges, that caused the problem.

    Natural Supplements Improve Cardiovascular Fitness

Since this is not a challenge I've faced personally, please understand that the information I'm sharing with you is based on the research I've done.

But here's the problem: Until you've lost cardiovascular fitness most will take it for granted. Both my husband and I have at least one of the symptoms mentioned as a risk factor for atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disease runs in our families.

So it is probable that the things we are doing to help other health challenges, have at the same time improved our cardiovascular fitness. I realize, however, that no one can prove that.

Most of the supplements recommended to improve cardiovascular fitness will improve the way the inner lining of arteries work. They are:

    • Propionyl-l-Carnitine - this nutrient directly improves the working of the inner layer of cells called the endothelium in three ways. First it gives carnitine to the cells powerhouse (called the mitochondria). Second it makes the body make more nitric acid. Third, it works as an antioxidant.
    • L-arginine is an amino acid used in the body to make nitric acid. It has been proven to help those who are already having problems with the arteries in their legs walk faster and longer before they need to stop.

This nutrient can make the level of free radicals in the body go up, so it should always be taken with antioxidants.

Please click on the link below for further information about the best arginine supplement I'm aware of. It has already been combined with antioxidants and other nutrients that enhance its usage in our bodies.

    • Any effective antioxidant will make these cells work better and protect them against damage. For more information please click here to read more about antioxidants.
    • Next please consider a super food supplement concentrate. This supplement will help your body overcome any and every health challenge you might face because it causes your body to release an average of 25% more stem cells then it normally would for six hours after you take it. For more information about this supplement and how it has helped us, click on the preceding link.
    • Finally I'd like to recommend a new product developed by the same company. It is designed to increase circulation by dissolving any excess fibrin in the blood, and by fighting free radicals throughout the body. It contains powerful proteolytic enzymes to dissolve excess fibrin, and high powered antioxidants to stop free radical damage and lower inflammation throughout the body. For all the details and ordering information, please click on the preceding link.

Where Can You Get These Nutrients?

    Vitamin World

Many are available on line from places like Vitamin World or Vitacost.

Most are available from the Life Extension Foundation. Although their supplements do cost more than they would from an online health food store, or even a local one, you can be sure that they are top quality supplements.

If you'd like more information on the last two supplements, visit the Stem Tech Health Sciences web site, or contact me personally. I'd be happy to help you.
