First Signs of Menopause -
Rarely Recognized

This arginine supplement can end hot flashes.

Most women miss the first signs of menopause because they are fairly subtle...

They may be nothing more than a slight increase in irritability, more difficult PMS symptoms to deal with, an increase in breast lumpiness before each period, or slight irregularities in the timing of those periods. You might also notice that your periods are lighter, or heavier than you're accustomed to, and you're having more trouble falling asleep, even when you're dead tired.

However, it's easy to blame all of those things on other factors in your life. Maybe the kids have been bickering more...that would explain the irritability.

Maybe you've had a good deal more responsibility at work with no more pay, or even a reduction in pay...

We all know those kinds of things can affect our periods, and how we feel around them.

So frequently those first signs of menopause go entirely unrecognized. It is only looking back several years later that we may realize, those difficulties we struggled with were actually the first signs of menopause.

Causes for First Signs of Menopause

These early menopause symptoms are actually caused by hormonal fluctuations in our bodies. Just as our hormones fluctuated during puberty, the same thing happens in reverse as we near the end of our reproductive years.

Since those middle age years are some of the busiest in our lives, it is no wonder that we miss these subtle changes in our bodies amidst all the seemingly more important responsibilities we have to deal with.

These early signs of menopause are fairly easy to ignore. The other things we have to deal with frequently aren't!

Does it Matter?

You may be thinking, "So What? If they're easy to ignore, isn't that the best way to deal with them? I've got enough to do without worrying about anything else!"

However, the problem with ignoring these first signs of menopause is when they are ignored they frequently worsen over time.

This happens because as we near the end of our reproductive years a hormonal imbalance frequently develops in our bodies in addition to the hormonal fluctuations.

When you see a doctor because the symptoms have gotten so bad they can't be ignored, he may...

  • suggest that you are a hypochondriac
  • prescribe hormone replacement therapy
  • prescribe some type of mood altering drug, such as Zoloft or Prozac...or
  • recommend a hysterectomy

The problem with these conventional approaches to the first signs of menopause is that none of them address the underlying hormonal imbalance so that you can regain that balance. Consequently, instead of regaining your health, the symptoms grow worse.

Many women experience temporary relief with these conventional approaches, but over time, those first signs return with a vengeance and frequently worsen instead of disappearing.

    So What are Those Signs?

Please understand that this probably won't be an exhaustive list, and each person will experience different signs, but these are some of the most common.
  • cold hands and feet
  • foggy thinking
  • migraine headaches
  • very heavy or very light periods
  • bleeding or spotting between periods
  • unexplained weight gain
  • memory loss
  • tender breasts Frustration - one of the first signs of menopause.
  • premenstrual syndrome (PMS)
  • fibroids
  • difficulty conceiving
  • endometriosis
  • miscarriages
  • difficult or painful sexual relations
  • unexplained fatigue
  • frustration and irritability
  • moodiness
  • depression
  • irregular periods
  • insomnia

Keys For Making Those First Signs of Menopause Disappear

The first key is to understand which hormones are out of balance. Usually early menopause symptoms are caused by an excess of estrogen in our bodies in relation to progesterone.

Many doctors will try to tell you that synthetic hormones, personality changing drugs, or hysterectomy are the only options you have to deal with these symptoms, but that is only because they don't know any better.

Thankfully, not all doctors agree with this approach. Two medical doctors, John Lee and Jesse Hanley have co-authored a book called What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About(TM): Premenopause: Balance Your Hormones and Your Life from Thirty to Fifty. They have proven over many years in their own practice that there is a much better way to deal with the first signs of menopause.

Their way is to balance the estrogen levels in your body by using a natural progesterone cream. They have found this approach to be much more effective than the conventional approach in making those first signs of menopause disappear. In addition, they've found this approach to be much safer for their patients.

Their book is available from Amazon by clicking the preceding link, or you could probably get it through your public library. The book is well documented and full of case studies. If you'd like to understand all the details, I'd recommend you read it.

    My Experience

I was one of those women who totally missed the first signs of menopause. In fact, it wasn't until after I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my mid forties that I understood the danger of that approach.

After my cancer treatments, which included chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, I decided it was time for me to take more responsibility for my own health.

I began to research what I could do to avoid a recurrence of the cancer. One of the things I learned would protect against cancer was a natural progesterone cream.

By the way, please don't confuse it with synthetic progesterone drugs that many doctors prescribe as part of hormone replacement therapy. It isn't the same thing.

Since it was only in retrospect that I recognized my own first signs of menopause, I can't help but wonder if I could have avoided my personal experience with cancer if I had recognized them for what they were and made the necessary changes to balance the hormones in my body.

Of course there's no way of knowing, or answering, that question...

But, I'm hoping that I can help you learn how to balance your hormones, before their imbalance causes you any serious health challenges similar to those I faced.
