How Common is Heart Disease?
The Answer is Scary

How common is heart disease is one of those questions that causes ambivalent feelings in almost everyone!

In one way, ignorance is bliss, but in this case, ignorance can also kill.

I was surprised in researching the answer to "How common is heart disease?" to find, that not many people bothered to answer it.

In fact, I had to find the answer on the American Heart Association's site by studying the latest statistics available.

But before I answer the question, let's be sure we're all on the same page.

Heart Disease is not one disease, but a group of them, when it comes to the way it is discussed. When you look up heart disease on Wikipedia, there are actually 8 different diseases that are covered under the topic of heart disease. Rhuematic Heart Disease is only one several types of Heart Disease that can kill you.

These diseases range from congenital heart disease, caused by a genetic mutation, or a failure of the heart to develop properly before a baby is born, to congestive heart failure, which may have many different causes.

So in answering the question how common is heart disease, it is important to understand whether it is a specific type of heart disease that is being discussed, or whether they are all being lumped together.

If you have a specific type of heart disease, that type may be the only one that interests you, but on this page, the answer I give will be an overall answer to all the diseases together.

How Common is Heart Disease?
More Common Than Anyone Would Like!

In fact, according to the American Heart Association's International Heart Disease Statistics, it is the leading cause of death worldwide for both men and women. They say it causes 30% of all deaths, 32% in women and 27% in men.

The latest statistics that have been finalized are for 2004, but from those figures the World Health organization estimates that 17.5 million people died from Cardiovascular Diseases, medical terminology for heart disease, in 2005.

If you are one of the "baby boomer" generation, the statistics are even more alarming. The American Heart Association states:

  • For your generation, almost forty percent (39.6%) of both men and women between the ages of 40 and 59 are already suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
  • By the time you reach the ages of 60 to 79 years old, almost three quarters of you will have some type of heart disease! The exact statistic is 73.6% for men and 73.1% for women.

How Common is Heart Disease?
Understanding the Statistics...

Percentages are always a little difficult to understand, so lets try to give you some numbers you can understand.

Once again, these numbers come from the American Heart Association's Baby Boomers and Cardiovascular Diseases Statistics. They say in 2006...

  • For every 100,000 people between the ages of 45 and 54, 142.1 died of heart disease.
  • For every 100,000 white men the rate was 174.9 men who died.
  • For every 100,000 white women the rate was 48.7 women who died.
  • For every 100,000 black men the rate was 269.9 men who died.
  • For every 100,000 black women the rate was 114.6 women who died.

  • For every one hundred thousand between the ages of 55 and 65, the over all death rate is omitted, but...
  • For every 100,000 white men, the rate was 440.1 men who died.
  • For every 100,000 white women, the rate was 154.0 women who died.
  • For every 100,000 black men, the rate was 712.2 men who died.
  • For every 100,000 black women, the rate was 309.0 women who died.
. Two things stood out to me about these statistics. The first was that the older you get the higher your risk is, but I suppose that could be expected.

The second, is that although as a society we may have stopped discriminating because of a person's skin color, apparently diseases haven't yet caught on. That is truly sad.

How Common is Heart Disease?
Common Enough to Prioritize Prevention

Heart disease is not inevitable for anyone. My grandfather died of a stroke, but my Dad is almost eighty and hasn't yet had to deal with anything worse than high blood pressure.

My husband's dad died of a heart attack when younger than his current age, but he hasn't yet had any problems with heart disease either.

What makes the difference? Of course, no one knows for sure, and ultimately we know it is in God's hands. He clearly tells us that the days of our lives are numbered before we are born.

However, I don't believe that means we have nothing to do with how long we live. God has given us free will. So we are responsible for the choices we make.

Therefore, we need to learn how to prevent heart disease...

How Common is Heart Disease?
No Matter, It isn't Inevitable!

How Common is Heart Disease? Common enough to make a picture of its beginnings readily available. These tips will help you learn how to prevent heart disease.
  1. Give your body the nutritional support it needs. I know of three important ways to do this.
    • Take a supplement that will boost your body's ability to release adult stem cells by 25 to 30% for up to six hours after each dose. This translates into 3 or 4 million more stem cells circulating to improve your body's ability to heal.

For all the details and how it has improved our health, read more about this concentrated super food supplement. If you know you want to place an order, or would like to research the scientific studies, visit the Stem Tech site itself.

    • Take a companion product that will improve circulation and blood flow throughout your body to be sure the stem cells can reach any place in the body they are needed. This supplement also helps keep your blood thin enough that it won't clot and cause heart attacks as well.

You can read all about it on the Proteolytic Enzymes page. You can place an order for the product by visiting the Stem Tech site as well.

    • Finally you can take a product that was developed specifically to prevent heart problems. It is called ProArgi9 Plus. It is a combination nutritional supplement providing nitric oxide and L-arginine with L-citrulline.

For a detailed explanation of this supplement and all the ways it can help you prevent heart disease, or to order, go to Dan Hammer's no more heart disease page.

  2. Be sure you've detoxified completely. If your body is full of toxins it may have trouble utilizing the nutrition it gets from food or supplements. I've recently learned of a very effective way to get rid of toxins at the cellular level.

For all the details see the page I've written on total body cleanse. You can also order by visiting the detox Chocolate site.

How common is heart disease? Common enough to make nutritional support a good investment.

As common as it is, I am constantly amazed at how few people are willing to do easy things, like those I've mentioned above, to prevent it. They will bankrupt themselves on medicines and operations, but they say they can't afford to supplement.

Since you're reading this page, I hope you'll realize in actual fact, you can't afford not to supplement, if you truly want to discover how to prevent heart disease.

This is particularly true if you aren't willing to make the necessary changes to follow my next recommendations.

However even if you are willing to make lifestyle changes, nutritional support will further boost your ability to prevent heart disease.

How Common is Heart Disease?
Common Enough to Necessitate Better Choices!

If you are unwilling or unable to use the supplements mentioned above, learning how to prevent heart disease will be more difficult, and less certain, but it is still possible by following my final recommendations.
  • Get rid of junk food from your diet and eat only a highly nutritious diet.
  • Don't use tobacco in any form. Stop immediately if you currently do. The American Heart Association insists that you raise your risks of death from heart disease by 60% (80% if you're a heavy user) over those of a non-user.
  • Choose to exercise regularly.
  • Keep your weight within normal limits. If you're already overweight determine to lose those extra pounds.

Can I guarantee you that if you follow these steps you won't become one of the future statistics for heart disease?

No, I'm afraid I can't. So I highly recommend you visit the page I've written about spiritual health, and the others it refers you to, until you are sure that you have spiritual life.

How common is heart disease? It is common enough that we all need to know for sure where we will spend eternity.

    Our Creator has warned us...

"It is appointed unto men once to die, and after that the judgement."

Of every appointment you've ever had in life, this is the one you won't miss and for which you won't be late. So it is

vitally important that you be prepared. Don't just skim those pages, read them carefully.

The truths I've explained there aren't my opinion, they are God's message of life. If you have spiritual life, how common is heart disease doesn't matter as much, because you can face death with confidence and peace. But if you're unsure, you are still unprepared for that most important appointment.

Please don't stay in that dangerous condition.
