SBI Review -
Establishing Importance

My degrees are all in teaching, and so was most of my experience up until a few years ago.

But I left teaching, when after sharing with a student my personal beliefs, I was forcefully informed I had no freedom of speech, as long as I was teaching in public schools. That freedom is far more important to me than my paycheck was.

Nonetheless,I soon realized we'd probably need another source of income withing a few years, due to the decreasing value of our money, and the fixed income we live on from my husband's retirement.

I've already shared more details on the affording health supplements page, so I won't repeat them here. But, as I mentioned there, I'd decided to give Site Build it a try, and here I'd like to write a detailed SBI review.

So you'll have the needed information from my experiences shared in this SBI review, to decide if you might be interested in using their services as well, or if you'd rather avoid them.

Opportunity or Scam

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

They say it:

• Makes online business success doable.
  
• Allows success for all, by providing an all-in-one process that includes tools and guidance
  
• Simplifies the process so that even a beginner can build a profitable business. For someone experienced, success is a snap...
  
• Doesn't profess to be the easiest way to put up a web site, but rather the easiest way to build a profitable e-business that will last for the long haul
  
• Is far more than just a "site builder". It provides hosting, keyword research tools, site submission, and so much more...
  
• Is the equivalent of a business degree in how to build a profitable web business using the action guide to teach you what to do in a step by step process.

  So those are the claims, and this SBI review will give my story and experiences with Site Build It, the company behind SBI.

My Initial Reactions

Since my husband's health had improved, we'd begun to travel on short term mission trips two or three times a year, so although I wanted to do something to bring in money, I didn't want to get a "job" that would tie me down so we couldn't travel.

Building a web business, would be the perfect solution. And, according to the people who made the below I Love SBI video, it was possible.

In addition, I really wanted to do something that I could do from home, but still keep up with, even when we were traveling.

If I recall correctly, they offered a money back guarantee, although I don't remember for how long. (Now it is for a full 90 days.) So I didn't feel like I had too much to lose, except the necessary time to check it out.

But to make this SBI review truly understandable, you need a little more background.

I had reasons I thought starting a business might be good, but misgivings as well.The reasons for starting a web business were:

• I wanted to help people. My husband was constantly gone doing things for others, but I had the role of staying home to cook, clean, and keep the house. I was happy with that, but I still wanted to help others as well, and I even had a specific way I thought I might be able to do it.
  
  
• I wanted to bring in extra income to finance our need for health supplements.

But the misgivings were:

• I didn't want to do something that tied me down so that we couldn't travel in mission work. I wanted to be able to do life my way now.
  
  
• I didn't want a business that ended up controlling me, instead of my controlling it.

For me, at that point, I was basically a technological idiot! I knew how to answer e-mail, some of the time, but attachments tended to be beyond me. My overall experience with computers and the internet was frustrating and infuriating. So I fell in the beginner category.

Although the people at SBI make many promises, they never promised I would get rich over night, or that I could build a business automatically with no effort on my part.

Rather they simply said they would teach teach me how to build a successful business on the web, take care of all the technological hurdles I couldn't handle, and provide me all the tools I needed to build a profitable web business. Check out this SBI summary page to see what I mean.

Once more, they promised to do everything for less then $300 a year! I have a sister who had started a gourmet coffee business, and I knew she had paid thousands of dollars to get a website built, so I was impressed with the price.

SBI Review -
Early Experiences

My first impression was, I was in school again. There was so much to learn! But the nice thing was, they really were teaching me what to do, explaining why I should do it that way, and laying out the steps I needed to take, to make it happen.

My experience in this SBI review is far different than many, because my goals and priorities were different.

I didn't need immediate income, and I wanted something I could do in my spare time, when it was convenient for me, and for my husband, not something I "had" to work at a certain number of hours a day.

SBI provides the Action Guide(AG) (you can see a sample by clicking the previous link) to teach you how to build your business. There are ten lessons in the AG, referred to as "Ten Days". You need to complete the first five before you register your domain.

I think I finished the first "day", in a day, but after that the learning curve began, and things slowed down considerably. This was particularly true in my case, since I always lead a very busy life, and that spring and early summer were no exception.

However, my initial assessment, for this SBI review was soon formed. SBI was neither a get rich quick scheme, nor a scam.

The company truly gives you what they promise. I downloaded, printed, and read, the written version of the Action Guide, and then watched the videos as well.

If things still weren't clear, I read the written version again. If I thought I understood, I began to follow the instructions while referring to the written version.

If I ran into snags, I could always go to the "Forums" (one of the best features of SBI) and ask other business owners, using SBI as well, for help.

The people in the forums are wonderful, and they seem to always be willing to take their time to help others who are just getting started. The SBI forums provided encouragement, as well, because they were full of wonderful stories of others successes.

You can get an idea about what I mean by reading these case studies.

Although it was almost two months later, July 1st, before I managed to register my domain, by that time I was fairly confident that I had a site concept that would support a profitable business and enable me to fulfill the goals I had for it.

SBI Review -
July 2008 to December 2008

Things went from there. I continued to work on learning, and writing. I discovered I truly enjoy writing, which is a good thing since, if you are running a web business, it's a big part of building the business.

My goal was to write one "page" (web page) that is, a week. I know that doesn't sound like much, and for many it isn't, but for me, it was all I wanted to make the time for.

Needless to say, the business has grown slowly, but it has grown. In some ways, I should confess in this SBI review, I've worked at it more as a hobby than a business, but that is what fits into my life, and where my priorities are.

Some people don't think you can truly make money on the internet, but this SBI review assures you, they're wrong.

I've made enough money this past year to pay for the expenses of the site, and more.

I expect within another year to reach my goals of being able to finance our health supplements from the site's income.

Site Build It Review -
December 2008 to Present

I continue to work on building my traffic, getting acquainted with my visitors, and trying to understand them so I can better help them.

I've yet to focus at all on monetizing, the process by which your business actually becomes profitable.

I've started a few things, Google Ad-sense for example, but I still haven't optimized it. I've established a few affiliate relationships, but I don't really know what I'm doing with them yet, either.

But SBI isn't responsible for these things, I am.

They've provided me the tools and information, I just haven't had time to put it all into practice yet, and truth be told, I may not fully comprehend everything, nonetheless, I'll get there.

My business building efforts have been further complicated by later developments. In December of 2008, my husband took advantage of the two for one special, then available until Christmas, to order another web site to stay in touch with our mission supporters.

The cost for a year of SBI is less than what we were spending to send out one prayer letter to all our supporters. We were only able to afford one letter a year through the mail, so we bought the web site to use the e-zine feature, so we could communicate more regularly with those who support our mission trips.

I understood he was going to build the mission site, but he was expecting me to do it. We decided to call it Electrifying Mission Trips...

We both work on it. He writes much of the content, but I do all the computer work, and some of the writing. Consequently, I have less time then ever to work on this, my first site.

However as I've re-studied the Action Guide to build the second site, I'm learning things I missed the first time through.

Then in September 2009, I started a third site, Simplified Solar Power, so we wouldn't lose the free site we received in the two for one special. I didn't register the domain for that site until March of this year. My husband gave it to me, since I'm doing the computer work on the mission site, and he isn't interested in web businesses. So I am currently working on three sites instead of one, and learning regularly from the experience. But all three sites are progressing more slowly as a result.

I'm sure this SBI review would be more exciting if I could tell you I'm already earning thousands a month, as many other business owners with SBI are, but most of those owners have spent far more time working on their businesses than I have.

Conclusions

If you want to learn how to build a web business, this SBI review can truthfully report...

They can teach you.

If you are looking for extra income, a web business will provide it, although the amount of time you spend building the business will directly impact when it begins to produce that income.

Many with SBI, build businesses that are profitable in a few months. Since I haven't worked at it as many hours, it has taken me longer, as I've shared in this SBI review.

If you have knowledge you realize others don't, or expertise you'd love to share, building a web business connects you with a world wide audience. This month alone, I've had visitors from eighty-eight different countries. That number is slowly growing over time.

I don't know how long it will take me to achieve the levels of success other SBI owners have. I've had almost 6,000 visitors to my site this past month, but other business owners have that many every day!

Yet what I do know is that those levels of success are available to me, as I continue to build this business. And even more importantly, I'm accomplishing the priorities I set for myself.

I realize none of it could have happened without the expertise and help of the people at Site Build It. I thank the Lord for them, and for the opportunity He has given me, but I want to publicly thank them as well.
