Sherilyn Nutting - Now that's an Unusual Name!
Sherilyn Nutting is my maiden name. The one I was known by in mission work for about twenty years. Sherilyn is a name my folks made up. It’s pronounced like Marilyn. And the last name is an English surname, although not of the normal variety. When people ask me where I'm from, I usually have a hard time answering. I was born in South Carolina, but we lived in five different states while I was growing up, so I saw a lot of the country. You might think my Dad was in the military, and he is, in a way. He's a preacher, so you could say he's in the Lord’s army. My adult life has involved a lot of travel as well. Thirteen weeks after I graduated from college I moved to Puerto Rico as a missionary teacher. Yes, I do speak Spanish fluently, although not without an accent. I truly loved mission work and planned to spend my life doing it.
Health Problems Forced me Home!
However, ten years later, around the age of thirty-two, I had to leave Puerto Rico because of serious health problems. For the details of my struggles, please click here to read about the

that turned my health around. It is too long a story to include all those details here, but that was the beginning of my involvement with health supplements. I am not a doctor or a nurse, and the information given on this site is for informational purposes only. Nonetheless, my personal experience has been that when doctors were unable to help, there were health supplements that have enabled me to be healthier in my fifties then I ever was in my twenties and thirties.
Health challenges I've Struggled With:
Continuous severe headaches from the time I was in sixth grade until my mid to late thirties. They were finally treated as migraines, and that brought relief.
Allergies that caused chronic bronchitis repeatedly. After being warned they might cause me to develop asthma, I was on desensitization shots for several years, but never noticed they helped much.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome or whatever the problem was that forced me home from Puerto Rico. I had symptoms of irritable bowel, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia. That's why I referred to it as the "whatever"!
Although not during the time I was Sherilyn Nutting, my greatest health challenge came a little over five years ago, when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
From the time I was in my mid thirties until after I had finished my cancer treatments, I was taking at least three to five prescription medications a day. I had to take the one that controlled the headaches four times a day. So, you can see I've had experience with a wide variety of health challenges.
This isn't even close to the end of my story, but it does cover most of what happened while I was Sherilyn Nutting. After three years of traveling I returned to Puerto Rico again as a missionary in August of 1998. I had given away all my winter clothes since I planned to spend the rest of my life there as a single missionary. But, the Lord has a wonderful sense of humor, and he must have been laughing that day. He knew that less then a year later I would return from Puerto Rico to marry Dennis Thompson.
